How it all started

This story tells you how the Planet Gamerz Clan and Homesite was born.

 

It all started with two ordinary guys who came together for some LAN-gaming. Their names are, Igelkott (swedish for Hedgehog) and Skyman. They cuttled up in Skyman's little cottage in the countryside. In those days they were only two and they used to play games other than Counter-Strike, like Quake. They felt rather lonely and came up with the idea to bring on some more people. Skyman and Igelkott grabbed me, ZcoRpio, and we gathered our first gang for a Gamerz Night and some Counter-Strike action. That night I was playing on a Pentium 133 MHz, just barely capable to run Half-Life. The one thing that came to my rescue was my Creative Labs 3D Blaster Voodoo2 that I'd just bought. The other guys were running on similar machines, all except for Igelkott who allways wants state-of-the-art stuff. He played on a Pentium II 450 MHz and a 19" monitor and aimed on getting a second Voodoo2 graphics card for his system. A guy named Halfman borrowed Igelkott's old computer that Igelkott had pushed to the limits. The processor got really hot by this tune-up. Since the lack of fan made the processor so hot they needed a smart solution to cool it down. Halfman scratched his head and came up with the brilliant idea to put a bag of ice on the processor to keep it cool, and it worked!

Another funny thing happend was that Skuggan (swedish for Shadow) just a few days prior to the first Gamerz Night bought a brand new network card and he smiled like never before when he showed up. His smile turn to sad eyes when he discovered that it didn't work. We worked on the problem but couldn't solve it. I broke the bad news to Skuggan and performed a FORMAT C:\ and reinstalled the operating system. That did indeed help the system to properly install the network card. This first time we were only 5 people boxed in Skyman's little cottage. Since then the number of players just keep growing. We had no idea that there was such big interest in LAN-gaming. The last time we got together we were 12 smoking guns killing eachother and we hope to get the Gamerz Night even bigger in the future. Who knows where it ends as the games hitting the market gets more awesome and further more supports network gaming.
